To feel abandoned is to deny
the intimacy of your surroundings.
The stairs are your mentor of things
to come, the doors have always been there
to frighten you and invite you
Put down the weight
of your aloneness
and ease into the conversation.
Everything is waiting for you.

I've been in the studio making hands with roots again........I never seem to get tired of that image. This excerpt from a poem came to mind. Perhaps that's one of the meanings of my obsessive hands - the rootedness of our lives in all other lives, the past and present and future, poised in an open hand. It seems a beginning place for me, an icon I need to begin the new year with, to help me remember that we live in a relational world, a "Conversation".

Hmm, yes, a very helpful thing to remember! And rooted hands.... I need to do some rooting.
beautiful...and that we are earth manifested in her human-ness...very connected to dirt, moss, green, water...we are elemental.
these two works are very lovely. and love too the David Whyte poem. Yes, I often feel alone, abandoned. Hmm, next time I feel so I will observe the windows, the doors not to mention the outside landscape.
Beautiful work as always. Love you, my friend.
Beautiful! Your muse is alive and well!
Hey, thanks so much to all of you! I will take this as further encouragement to keep on "handling"........we are indeed elemental, a part of the body and mind of the planet. I think that's the theology we need to return to, a sense again that all is alive, conversant, related........
thankyou!
